POV: You're Not A Party Person But You're In Adelaide
If loud clubs and wild parties aren't your thing, I've got just the spot for you in Adelaide!
AUSTRALIA
After living in the quiet of the outback, I sometimes miss the excitement and entertainment of a capital city. Luckily, I'm only a few hours away from Adelaide, so whenever I need a break, I can dive into the city for some fun, good food, and a change of pace!
Adelaide is often described as one of the most livable cities in Australia, known for its relaxed lifestyle, vibrant culture, and affordability compared to larger cities like Sydney or Melbourne.
If you're the life-of-the-party-type, your idea of a good time probably involves sipping something classy at a pub like you're in a moody indie film, or hitting the club dance floor like you just got possessed by the spirit of Saturday night.
Don't worry, my introverted friends! If loud clubs and wild parties aren't your thing, I've got just the spot for you in Adelaide. After all, not all heroes are party people - some just prefer arcade games and a cozy museum vibe.

Paradigm Zone, Adelaide's Sci-Fi Arcade Wonderland
Imagine stepping into a neon-lit portal to a futuristic world—this is Paradigm Zone, Adelaide’s ultimate arcade haven. Nestled in Gawler Place, this venue goes far beyond the typical arcade experience. Think chrome walls, glowing lights, and an atmosphere that feels straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Here’s what sets Paradigm Zone apart: Karaoke Box, so you can belt out your favorite tunes in a private room and Light Matrix Game, an interactive floor filled with dazzling lights. Perfect for 2-8 players, it's as much about strategy as it is about fun. And it doesn’t stop there. Their Virtual Reality (VR) experience caters to players of all ages, offering immersive worlds to explore.
But wait—did I mention the froyo bar? Sweet, refreshing, and customizable, it’s the perfect way to recharge. Get the "All In One" package, for just A$39.9 per person, you get the ultimate day pass:
$20 worth of arcade game coins
One game of the thrilling Light Matrix Game
Free froyo to satisfy your sweet tooth
You’ll also receive a handy bracelet from the staff. It’s more than just an accessory—it’s your golden ticket to an epic day. What’s even cooler? If you don’t get to everything (like me, too busy singing my heart out in the Karaoke Box!), the bracelet remains valid for another visit. So, you can return and conquer the Light Matrix Game whenever you’re ready.

Welcome to The Circus: Archie Brothers
Step right up to Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, where the charm of a vintage circus meets the thrill of modern arcade gaming! From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into a scene straight out of The Greatest Showman.
While the interior design tugs at your nostalgic heartstrings, the arcade games here are anything but old-fashioned. My personal favorite? The driving game. But this isn’t just any racing simulator—the driver’s seat shakes, jolts, and moves, giving you a pulse-pounding, immersive experience that’s like driving on a real racetrack!
If you're looking for something a bit more traditional, Strike Bowling is the perfect group activity. Grab your friends, hit the lanes, and see who comes out on top. It's a great way to mix competition with laughter.
Here’s the thing—unlike Paradigm Zone, Archie Brothers leans more towards adult fun. The games, atmosphere, and overall vibe are better suited for grown-ups looking to relive their childhood in a slightly edgier setting. Families with young kids may find more variety and suitable activities at Paradigm Zone.
Don’t forget to check out their bar. Yes, you read that right—a bar. Enjoy a cheeky drink while gaming, and take your arcade night to the next level!

Meet The Dolphins at Port Adelaide
Yes, it’s true—you can meet dolphins without ever leaving the city! Nestled at Port Adelaide, the Dolphin Sanctuary Kayak Tours offers an incredible opportunity to paddle alongside these playful marine creatures. And the best part? It’s affordable and available year-round.
I visited the sanctuary on Australia Day, and to my surprise, the guided tour price was the same as any weekday: just A$79 per person. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even rent a kayak and explore solo. But here’s the catch—I had no idea when the dolphins might appear and got hilariously lost a few times while lagging behind the group (classic me!).
Thankfully, the tour guide provided waterproof bags for our gadgets, so no accidental splashes ruined my gear. This isn’t just about spotting dolphins—it’s an immersive 3-hour tour packed with activities. Our guide led us through serene mangrove forests, an enchanting maze of greenery teeming with wildlife. Then came the ship graveyard on Garden Island, where eerie, weathered wrecks told stories of the past.
And yes, the highlight: the dolphins! I spotted three of them gracefully gliding near our kayaks. Watching them roam freely in their natural habitat was magical. I’ll admit, though, these playful creatures are camera-shy—they moved too fast for me to snap a decent picture. But honestly, the memory of seeing them in person is better than any photo.

Immersive Art Installation at Adelaide Festival
If you’re someone who loves encountering the unique and unexpected, the Adelaide Festival is a must-visit! This iconic annual event never fails to amaze, and this year, it took TikTok by storm with an installation that had everyone talking—a 15-meter-long stranded sperm whale on Glenelg Beach.
But here’s the twist: it wasn’t a real whale. This hyper-realistic sculpture, created by the Belgian art group The Captain Boomer Collective, was designed to spark conversations about climate change and humanity's connection to nature. What made it truly mind-boggling was the attention to detail—it had the smell of a real whale carcass, and even scientists on-site were left questioning whether it was fact or fiction. Visitors found themselves immersed in what felt like a giant puzzle, blurring the lines between reality and art.
I have to say, this is art at its most brilliant—challenging perceptions and engaging the senses in ways you’d never expect. It’s no wonder I’m already counting down to the next Adelaide Festival, scheduled to take place in February to March 2025. If this year was anything to go by, we’re in for more mind-blowing creativity! Mark your calendar—you don’t want to miss it!

Visit Historic Property at Carrick Hill
Tucked away in the leafy suburb of Springfield, just a short drive from the bustling streets of Adelaide, lies Carrick Hill—a mansion that’s more than just a piece of history. This stately home tells the story of wealth, art, and passion, built by two of Adelaide’s most intriguing aristocrats: Sir Edward ‘Bill’ Hayward and Lady Ursula Hayward.

Together with his wife Ursula, the Haywards brought their love for art and culture to life in every corner of Carrick Hill. This wasn’t just their home—it was their masterpiece.
The magic of Carrick Hill extends far beyond its walls. The sprawling 40-hectare gardens are a haven for nature lovers, with manicured rose gardens, tranquil walking trails, and stunning views of the Adelaide plains. It’s the perfect spot to lose yourself in nature’s beauty or simply sit back and soak in the peaceful ambiance.
